Ask Texas Officials to Stand Up for Big Bend...

And let them know you want them to make the Big Bend National Park walls stand down.
For starters, write a few emails
Because there's so much to lose if walls are erected along the Rio Grande River as it trickles through Big Bend National Park, I wrote my elected officials asking them to adhere to our state's slogan, DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS.
You can write to Abbott, Cruz, and Cornyn, too, as I did. Just ask Google "how to send an email to [insert name]" and take it from there in less time than it takes a sneeze to go through a screen door.
As the top elected officials in Texas, this unholy trio surely has the power to make the wall builders stop their massacre of nature's wonderful gift to Texans. Take what you like from the emails I wrote them, and beg them to stop. Remind them, DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS.

And here's some Texan fightin' words you can steal, borrow, lift, cadge, mooch, bum, pilfer, poach, or pinch...whatever. Just write Abbott and Cruz and Cornyn today, words to this effect:
Dear Elected Representative of Texas,
Stand Up for Texas and Tell the Big Bend Border Wall Builders to Stand Down.
"Surely as an influential elected Texas official, you have the power to halt a disaster in the making. As of this week, federal contractor Southwest Valley Construction has moved heavy equipment into Big Bend National Park (on Tuesday morning, 8.4.26, as reported by The Big Bend Sentinel). Over the past few weeks, observers on the ground have spotted survey crews on roads along the Rio Grande river, and staging areas popping up north of the park — but officials still don’t have straight answers.
One of the best treasures Mother Nature ever doled out is OUR Texas park—Big Bend National Park. With soaring canyon walls, it’s got its own natural barrier along the border to limit the infinitesimal number of crossings there, yet the environmental destruction is already underway. The competing wall that is planned won’t even begin to match the height of the natural canyon walls carved by the ancient Rio Grande River.
Have you ever visited Big Bend National Park? I urge you to put your own boots on the ground there, to see how senseless this environmental destruction is. Please stand up for Texas and protest this travesty that will destroy the park’s beauty forever, and upend the livelihood of so many loyal Republican voters in the area. Our national parks belong to all of us, just like Texas’s pride & joy, Big Bend National Park. As the state you represent has proclaimed, Don't Mess With Texas. I am pleading with you not to."
