Blue Window by Jann Alexander © 2014
I can’t resist a window. When I travel, I collect images of windows, and their siblings, doors, the way dogs collect fleas: always and everywhere. In New Mexico and Mexico, there are no shortage of windows and doors to photograph, from grand to unsavory, and never without color, texture, vitality. They offer not just beauty but symbolism, with many interpretations—barriers, or portals? Possibilities or impediments? Beginnings or endings? For me, imagining what might lie behind them is enough to stoke my creative fantasies. ORDER A PRINT.
“Our senses are indeed our doors and windows on this world, in a very real sense the key to the unlocking of meaning and the wellspring of creativity.” —JEAN HOUSTON
