Reflections of the vast brown Chihuahuan desert that surrounds a vivid green church in the tiny village of San Diego in Monterrey, Mexico, are distorted by sundown in an arched window.
Like the distorted green oasis the church occupies in an arid land, the village’s priorities are reflected in the indulgent use of its most precious resource to water the desert. ♣
