How shelfies of our books are much more revealing than selfies of ourselves

If our selfies are our way of putting our best selves out there, these staged pictures show us little of who we really are. Can't we tell worlds more about people by looking at the books on their shelves?
The books on our shelves — as photographed, shelfies — are carefully arranged, too. But what they reveal are our interests and the words we value.
My own shelfies show my passions in abundance, from my earliest influences and interests as a child, to my present-day interests, as well as my urge to organize aspects of myself, and the comfort I take in gathering collections.
Here, there are shelves for beloved childhood friends.
Shelves for collections: painting, advertising, design, writing, nature.
And shelves full of photography, industrial design, and history books.
Behind doors: Books on Texas history (10 years of research).
On display: my first published book, Unspoken: A Dust Novel.
